Literature Text

Last night, I looked up,
and saw your eyes, and time
Halted

(and in your eyes there was something
I dare not to describe
for it cannot exist, outside of
this space between the worlds
this time outside of time –
and this space slips away as I)

started back up again,
with a smile to break the pause;
shake my head to clear the air,
for what I felt must have been a dream,
and we talk again, commonplaces, and you
Smiled at me

(and it came again, that eternal quiet
where there was nothing
is nothing
beyond the other's eyes
and all the world, all that Is
is found within your eyes,
and I'm falling deeper and deeper into the center of the place
where all is right,
where I am safe,
and I begin to)

speak, and laugh at your joke,
and smile back at you,
and that ephemeral pause is
quickly forgotten in the plaints of the moment,
the smiles, the sorrow, the weariness, the
Trust

(and there is nothing but each other,
two pieces of a greater whole
and all is still
there is only the other's gaze
our own gaze
and the moment
the peace
overtakes us
until there is)

pleasure in the company, yes,
but the night draws on,
and we're both too tired
too in need of a bit of sleep
to stay up much longer;
so we smile, and hug,
and part ways for the night.

(I will remember this moment,
hidden though I am,
hidden though it must be;
and will you?)
I'm not sure if I really like this poem. It's a slightly older one; I was trying to capture the feeling of the subtext and the eternal moments between the conversation. I don't know if I did a good job or not. But, I'd like to rework it until it works. Please help me find the direction to rework it in!

And please, please suggest a title.
